Petrochemical Engineering

Chemicals obtained directly from cracking (pyrolysis) and indirectly from chemical processing of petroleum or plant fuels. Important petrochemicals are acetylene, benzene, ethane, ethylene, methane, propane, and hydrogen, from which many different compounds are derived. These derivatives are used as raw materials for manufacturing elastomers, fibres, plasticizers, solvents and hundreds of different products. Process engineering is a key step in the petrochemical industry and is used to design, build, refurbish, and develop large-scale systems. The center can be used for oil processing and production, as well as bunkering, both onshore and at sea.
